  • About Us

Jennifer Mae: "I am a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Film and Media Studies. Photography and Video have been a passion of mine since I was only 11 years old. The thing that I love most about shooting weddings, is getting to know the couples and becoming friends in the process!

Chris: "I am also a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Film and Media Studies. I have worked in the entertainment industry for as long as I can remember. The thing that I love most about shooting weddings, may sound pretty cliche, but it's true. I love capturing one of the happiest days in someone's life."

  • Why do we shoot weddings?

We love weddings! Everything about them! Each experience to us is fresh, new and exciting. We are definitely not the company that you hire if you are looking for someone to show up and hit record. Our passion is story telling and that is exactly what we do... Tell your story. We understand what it feels like to go through the process of a wedding :-) as we are a husband wife team and we have been there ourselves! One of the most important things in you coming together is that you are both individuals and we look for the unique qualities that make you fit perfectly as a couple! A wedding is much more than saying "I do". It is many days, months and in most cases many years in the making. We put as much love into capturing your day as you have put into creating it! We love working with couples who are as passionate about us capturing their wedding as we are :-) We would love to hear about your big day!

Joann + Steven have an extra special place in our hearts… We first spoke on Sunday February 5th. Steven said that he would like to set up a meeting that Thursday to get to know us a bit with the possibility of having us shoot their wedding film. My reply was “We can set up a tentative appointment. However, I am pregnant and our son is due on Tuesday. Let’s keep in contact and as long as he hasn’t arrived yet we will meet up.” Well Thursday came, but my son Michael didn’t. So, we met up at Starbucks at 6:30 pm… No don’t worry, I didn’t go into labor during our meeting, although I think they thought I might, as I was so big people thought I had twins in there 🙂 But only a few hours later Michael was ready to meet us.

You would think that a giant pregnant woman may scare someone off, but not these two. Three days later they finalized having us there to share in their day. I am so glad that we got to meet them as we ended up having such a great time! From ice cream cones to trollies they were laughing and smiling the whole day through.

We also loved working with Caroline from Tiny Water Photography. She was super creative and fun to work with. She also did an amazing job on Joann + Steven’s engagement session!

We hope you enjoy seeing just a taste of their day! Here is the Same Day Edit that we edited on location and screened during their reception!

I just wanted to add this video of the special dance by the family of Joann! It was truly incredible! I hope you enjoy!

sixto blancaver - Please give me a copy of DVD of Joann and Steven wedding and reception on October 20 2013. I am the father of Steven.

We have seen many grooms get emotional when they see their bride for the first time on their wedding day, but none have been so deep as Chris at our own wedding. That is until we met Jason. They decided to wait until she walked down the aisle to see each other for the first time. Once it was time for the ceremony, Jason was raw with emotion. He had so much deep love for Jessica that he couldn’t keep it in. It was one of the most beautiful things that Chris and I have seen. As Jessica turned the corner and walked down the aisle my eyes filled with tears. As my eyes welled watching Jason, I prayed that he was still in focus as I couldn’t clearly see the monitor anymore.

Now we could have never known, nor could he how he was going to feel in that moment. In the Same Day Edit, I couldn’t cut away. Being a film major who studied at Berkeley, I wanted to allow Jessica + Jason to embrace the emotion of the moment. So, rather than doing a quick shot of him, I had stay with Jason. When I watch it over again, I personally feel the same emotion that I felt on that day and I hope they do as well.

It’s funny, because We didn’t meet Jessica and Jason until the day before their wedding. But instantly we were in love with them. To be honest, I think the love began earlier in the spring, when after booking out one of our assistant packages, Jessica called and said that they found more money in their budget and had to have Chris and I there. I knew then that she was someone special. Not only because she loved our work, but because she was a bride who really wanted to make sure that all of the work they put into their day was captured in the best possible way. I loved her because she knew that although photos would capture a second in time, that the video would allow them to feel the emotion and laughter from their day.

We spent a couple hours over coffee/tea about a mile from their location to get to know them. We found out so much about them, from what they do on a sunday {Jason is a Sports Fanatic} to the missing Fedora from the night that they met…They know what I mean by that 🙂 We totally clicked!

O.k. I could keep writing, but I think I will let you watch their Same Day Edit… make sure you have tissues handy 🙂

When Nelson first arrived to pick up Christy on their wedding day he was looking handsome in his suit. Shortly after the bridesmaids got ahold of him he was wearing a big red bow, a bra and underwear over his clothing and paying off the girls with cash and IOU’s. He did this in order to see his beautiful bride Christy!

From there they had a whirlwind of a day. Starting with a tea ceremony at Christy’s parents house, next over to his parents for another tea ceremony then off to Ruby Hill where they would officially be married!

The day was a blast! One that you can only taste with the Same Day Edit… There was so much love and laughter by all!

Christy looked stunning!!! She was such a beautiful bride. I know that she wanted the day to be perfect and it was!!! We were able to meet them before so learned about their style, personality and the importance of their super cute dog Lucy! We also were able to learn about their journey as couple, which made it that much more special to see them get married on their wedding day.

We also loved their uniwue proposal story… In their words:
Nelson, knowing that Christy spends much time checking Facebook on her phone, executed his proposal plan.
Posting a picture of the ring-box to Christy’s wall, and while checking the notification, Nelson dropped to one knee.
Christy, momentarily confused, looked up to see Nelson.
Nelson then asked Christy to marry him, and in her shocked state, she responded with “Sure.”

Every film that we create is specific to the couple and a reflection of who they are. These two are really fun and truly in love and it shows!

We hope you enjoy their Same Day Edit that was screened during their reception.

Maria + Jesse are madly in LOVE!

Jesse loves horses!

Maria Loves details!

Their engagement was filled with laughter!  It was also filled with adventure and tradition.  You see, they both love their Mexican culture.  They love everything about it.  They really wanted to not only take “romantic” photos… but, they wanted to embrace their heritage.  We decided to tell a story through images of their journey.

I mentioned that Jesse loves horses. What I didn’t mention is that Maria is afraid of them.  Nevertheless, as you look through their images you will see her slowly opening up to these beautiful creatures.  Maria truly values what is important to Jesse, so she was willing to go to any lengths for him.

As the sun was setting they changed into traditional Mexican clothing and the fun began.

This was one of the most fun shoots that we have done! Not only because they were so willing to step outside of their comfort zone, but because they have such a loving and kind spirit.  Their love extends far beyond one another and out to their family and friends.  We are doing a second shoot with them at V. Sattui where Jesse proposed to Maria… We are really excited to see them again soon!~

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy just a taste of their engagement shoot.

Linda + Michael had such a beautiful wedding!    It was so nice, because even though the tea ceremony was a distance away from the main location, they set aside plenty of time to go out explore and enjoy their fantastic venue Rancho Los Lomas. Their planning not only allowed for so many amazing shots on their wedding day, but it created a relaxed energy for the entire day.  We actually decided to make their second song reflective of the time they got to spend together after their first look aka secret meet. 🙂

At the bottom of the post you will find their EXTENDED SAME DAY EDIT... this is the extension of the same day edit that was screened at their reception..  Everything after the first song was edited after their wedding day 🙂

We took just a few photographs of some details from Linda and Mikes Wedding, so we figured we would post a couple…

And here is their EXTENDED SAME DAY EDIT!!! We hope you enjoy!!!
